Just before our summer in the southern hemisphere comes to an end, Tinycottons have brought out their Spring Summer 18 Hôtel Bonheur collection. Full of bright colour block pieces and clean, nautical stripes, this season’s Tinycottons swimmers are some of my favourites from the European SS18 collections.

I asked the kids what they thought of Tinycottons SS18.

Rose: I love them all! I love the colours, I love how the swim cap matches the swimmers, I love the crossover swimmers, and I love the two parts swimmers.

Her edit: Swimsuit stripes/ Cerulean blue and off-white small stripes pants/ Frills swim suit/ Frills swim hat/ Stripes swimsuit/ Stripes High Socks/‘Gird’ long one piece/ Stripes swim set/ Colour block frills swim suit

Max: I like that there’s so many clothes about food.

Let’s Hang Out

  • ‘everything in the world comes down to time in the end. happiness is a time you’re looking forward to, or time you look back on. it’s all about time passing.’
#annetyler

i was chatting with my grown-up son the other day and we were agreeing that right now, sometimes it feels like time has just... stopped. i have a lot of space to just be. sometimes i find myself reliving happy moments in my mind.

it’s interesting the things that come back to you. the clarity that perspective brings. the narrowing down, and the sifting through. what rises to the surface, when the noise falls away.

this one and her brother couldn’t be loving #stayhome life more. they’ve entertained each other and us (including writing, directing and performing a post-apocalyptic themed play), they’ve embraced having their dad and i take turns teaching them (they made up their own anthem for homeschool), and while they’ve spent more than their fair share of iso school hols on screens, basically,
during these strange and trying times, they’ve been, and are, a joy and a delight ✨
here i tried to take a portrait of rose and she turned the camera on me. because that’s what your children will do, right?
  • a couple of weeks ago i tried to fathom the current state of things as a whole. mistake. being newly single and separated from the little kids for part of the week adds another layer to things. this is just my deal right now. everyone has their own stuff going on. it’s a lot.
never have i ever spent so much time in public parks and gardens. i think we all have a greater appreciation of the world that isn’t human right now. the other day, apropos of nothing, rose said to me: i love nature. and i feel like humans just build things and wreck everything. they don’t care about nature unless it helps them.
max started telling her how she could help (regeneration programs) i started talking about voting.
but mostly i hugged her, and said yeah, that’s true. cause humans. sheesh.

comparatively speaking, we’re doing okay here. but i share this now, cause when i read of other’s struggles, for a moment i feel less alone. maybe hearing mine will do that for you too 🤍
